About
My name is Elin Sandberg and I practise classical homeopathy in Gothenburg. I see people online and make home visits.
I came to homeopathy through a long interest in how people describe their own health — which words they choose, what they mention first, what they almost leave out. That is the work a session consists of: listening long enough for the whole picture to appear.
A first session takes ninety minutes. That is not a courtesy; it is the time the method requires.
§ 1 The whole
The whole
Homeopathy does not assess a symptom on its own. It asks how a person functions as a whole — sleep, appetite, mood, what makes a state better or worse, how it began and what was going on in life at the time.
Two people describing the same complaint therefore rarely receive the same remedy. It is the whole picture that decides, not the label on the complaint.
§ 2 The vital force
The vital force
Hahnemann described a vis vitalis — a vital force that keeps the organism in order, and which in illness falls out of balance before anything shows on the outside.
The concept dates from 1810 and should be read as it was meant: a model for how a homeopath reasons, not a physiological claim. What it does in practice is move attention from the individual symptom to the person carrying it.
§ 3 The principle of similars
The principle of similars
Similia similibus curentur — like cures like. The principle says a remedy is chosen on the likeness between the picture a substance gives rise to and the picture the person presents.
In practice that means a long conversation, a review of the picture, and a choice explained to you before you leave. You should know why that particular remedy was chosen.
The physician's highest calling is to make the sick healthy. Hahnemann, Organon, § 1
§ 4 Training
Training
Four-year training in classical homeopathy at Nordiska Homeopatiskolan, graduated 2016. Member of Svenska Homeopaters Riksförbund since 2017. Annual continuing education in materia medica and chronic cases since then.
What I don't do
I am not a licensed healthcare provider. Swedish law limits what someone without a licence may treat, and I keep to it. I therefore do not take cases involving:
- cancer, diabetes or epilepsy
- conditions during pregnancy and childbirth
- children under eight years old
I never advise anyone against medical care, and I will never ask you to stop a treatment you have been prescribed. If you are unsure what a complaint is caused by, start with a doctor.
Homeopathy is a complement and does not replace contact with a doctor or other licensed healthcare provider.
